Is the Soleil Tan De Chanel Worth the Splurge?

Hello everyone, welcome back to my blog for another review! Recently, I have been loving bronzers and it has become a crucial step in my makeup routine. I love how effortlessly bronzed and glowy a simple sweep of bronzer can make you look. I understand that Chanel have now rebranded and changed their formula, but I still wanted to review this product despite me owning the older version, so without further ado, let’s get into it.

Chanel Healthy Glow Bronzing Cream – £42

Packaging:

The packaging is so beautiful in a frosted circular pot, making it look and feel sleek. Due to the packaging being plastic, for the price you are paying, it does make it feel less luxurious, however it makes it easier to travel with.

Product/Application:

I could never justify buying this makeup item whilst I was growing up, but I was kindly gifted it as a birthday present and I was so excited to get using it. Since then, Chanel have actually changed the formula and name of their product. The fan favourite had been reformulated to remove questionable ingredients with new botanical and modern alternatives such as coconut oil, which many believe does clog your pores. Chanel have responded to this by stating that their product is non-comedogenic, meaning it will not block your pores. I have the old formulated product which was named ‘Soleil Tan de Chanel’, so it will be interesting to compare it to the new formula and product which is named the ‘Healthy Glow Bronzing Cream’.

This bronzer is a luxury makeup product at its finest. Yes, this bronzing cream is on the more expensive side, but you don’t need a lot and so I am finding that this is lasting me a long time! It is so light weight and leaves you with such a gorgeous complexion. I love how minimal but effective it is!

I prefer to use this product with a brush, but you could also use a dampened beauty blender. I like to swirl my brush in a circular motion inside the pot and then sweep it across my cheek bones and across my forehead, creating a lovely bronzed look. This bronzing cream warms up as you blend it, helping it to melt into your skin effortlessly.

Pro’s:

  • Lightweight, buttery smooth formula
  • Easy to apply and blend
  • Effortlessly makes your skin glow
  • Travel friendly
  • It lasts you a long time

Con’s:

  • It is expensive
  • It is a one shade product which isn’t inclusive

Thank you for joining me again this week, I hope you have enjoyed and it has helped you to decide whether to treat yourself and buy this bronzer or not. I would recommend this bronzer to everyone! Understandably, there are cheaper alternatives, so if you would like a blog post on some of those, let me know in the comments down below!

Lots of love, Francesca xx

  1. Thank you so much for this post, Francesca! I always wondered the effects and results of this bronzer and never got myself to buy it because I still had plenty of others still to use. This makes the choice so much easier!!

  3. Hi Francesca! Thank you for sharing this review. I own the old formulated Soleil Tan de Chanel, which I really love, but haven’t tried the new formulated one yet. Would you say the new one performs better than the old one or are they actually the same thing apart from the new formulation?

    1. Hello! I have the old formulated product too, so I can’t actually comment on that as I don’t know. However, if I were to purchase the newer one, I would definitely make a comparison review😊
